This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for DHA for Police Officers to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
This is a developmental position and may be filled at any grade level. This position provides non-competitive promotion potential to the full performance grade of GS-07 if all requirements are met.
Duties
Respond to and investigates emergency calls, complaints and other calls for service.
Conduct traffic law enforcement patrol using specialized equipment such as radar, Lidar and breathalyzer.
Perform protection duties to deter, detect, and deny unauthorized access at fixed installation, internal compound, and incident perimeter posts.
Prepare accurate and concise police reports.
Enforce laws, the Uniform Code of Military Justice, and Army Regulations to protect life and property.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Incumbent must comply with and maintain the requirements of the Individual Reliability Program (IRP).

- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
- Incumbent must attend or have a current approved waiver/exception from the Office of the Provost Marshal General, IAW AR190-56 OR have successfully graduated from the United States Army Civilian Police Academy.
- Incumbent will be required to successfully complete a Police Officer Field Training Program within 6 months upon initial assignment and maintain certification OR have already completed the Police Officer Field Training Program.
- Successfully pass a pre-employment and recurring medical / psychiatric evaluation.
- Pass a Physical Agility Test (PAT) within 30 days of hire date and annually thereafter.
- Comply with and maintain the requirements of the Individual Reliability Program (IRP).
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
- The duties of this position meet the criteria for compliance with Federal and Department of the Army Drug Free Workplace Programs.
- This position authorizes the carrying of a firearm and is subject to the provisions of the Lautenberg Amendment.
- This position has been designated "Mission Essential". In the event of severe weather conditions or other emergency type situations, the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
- This position requires you to obtain and maintain a valid state driver's license.
- This position is subject to irregular and/or rotating shifts, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays. Incumbent is required to work overtime as directed and is subject to recall for emergency overtime.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time.
- Incumbent is subject to possible civil action due to improper exercises of authority or injudicious use of force in the apprehension or detention of individuals.

Specialized Experience GS-0083-06: One year of specialized law enforcement experience which includes 1) participating in the planning of civilian training, regarding various law enforcement topics: 2) conducting law enforcement duties by vehicle or foot; and 3) maintain order and protecting life. This definition of specialized experience is typical work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).
Specialized Experience GS-0083-07: One year of specialized law enforcement experience which includes 1) plan and conduct civilian training, regarding various law enforcement topics; 2) working with Federal, State, municipal, local law enforcement agencies for the protection of personnel and property against such hazards as fire, theft, damage, accident, or trespass; and 3) maintain order and protecting life. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).
