This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Police Officers to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
This is a developmental position and may be filled at any grade level. This position provides non-competitive promotion potential to the full performance grade of GS-07 if all requirements are met.
Duties
Draft and prepare informal and formal reports in accordance with laws, policies, and regulatory requirements.
Conduct traffic law enforcement patrol using specialized equipment such as a radar, Lidar, and breathalyzer.
Respond to and investigate emergency calls, complaints, and other service-related calls.
Perform protection duties to deter, detect, and deny unauthorized access at fixed installation, internal compounds, and incident perimeter posts.
Enforce laws, the Uniform Code of Military Justice, and Army Regulations to protect life and property.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
- The duties of this position meet the criteria for compliance with Federal and Department of the Army Drug Free Workplace Programs. position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter.
- This position has been designated "Mission Essential". In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
- The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
- This position is subject to the provisions of the Domestic Violence Offender Gun Ban commonly referred to as the Lautenberg Amendment.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time.
- This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations. Employee shifts are rotated on a regularly scheduled basis.
- This position is subject to screening and update of required immunizations unless exempted for medical or administrative reasons in accordance with Army Regulation 40-562, Chapters 3 and 4.
- Incumbent must attend the United States Army Military Police School Civilian Police Academy and successfully graduate within 12 months of hire date.
- Incumbent will be required to successfully complete a Police Officer Field Training Program within 6 months upon initial assignment and maintain certification OR have already completed the Police Officer Field Training Program.
- Incumbent must be able to successfully pass training, certification and qualification requirements related to law enforcement work functions as prescribed by policy, regulations, or statutes.
- Incumbent is subject to possible civil action due to improper exercises of authority or injudicious use of force in the apprehension or detention of individuals.
- This position has a requirement to lift up to 45 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
- Incumbent must meet the requirements of AR 190-56: successfully pass a pre-employment and recurring medical / psychiatric evaluation, pass a Physical Agility Test (PAT) within 30 days of hire date and annually thereafter.
- Incumbent must comply with and maintain the requirements of the Individual Reliability Program (IRP).

Specialized Experience GS-0083-06: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 level in the Federal service which includes: Knowledge and experience of basic laws and regulations, law enforcement operations, practices, or techniques for maintaining order and protecting life and property.
Specialized Experience GS-0083-07: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 level in the Federal service which includes: Independently executing the basic laws and regulations, law enforcement operations, practices, or techniques for maintaining order and protecting life and property. Assisting the Federal, State, Municipals, or local Law Enforcement agencies with protection of personnel and property.
