This position is part of the US Trade and Development Agency. The incumbent will be responsible for providing direct support to the Director of Congressional Affairs with managing USTDA's congressional and legislative engagement and management practices.

Duties

Assists with identifying, analyzing, monitoring, and tracking Congressional and legislative actions, bills, and other activities that are of strategic importance to the mission of the Agency. Develops and drafts Agency strategy documents and information used for congressional hearings, committee mark-ups, floor action, and technical assistance requests. Drafts, manages, and coordinates Congressional Reports and Congressional Notifications packages from inception to completion in accordance with federal regulations and USTDA policies. Routes and assigns congressional requests to appropriate USTDA office and coordinates responses. Manages the agency's record keeping of all congressional communications, tracks Congressional activities, notifications, key members and their staff, and legislative counterparts in other executive branch agencies. Schedules, reports on, monitors, and coordinates office calls, program briefings, and meetings between USTDA and Members and their staff, U.S. Government agencies, and other relevant organizations.

Qualifications

At the GS-12 level, you must meet the following qualification: One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 level. Specialized experience is that which has equipped the applicant with the competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. Specialized experience for this position includes but is not limited to 1) Review and analysis of legislation to determine the impact of the legislation on a group or organization; 2) Review of reports and correspondence and legislative matters to determine conformance with current policy and organizational priorities; 3) Drafting and/or tracking correspondence to Members of Congress, Senators, and/or representatives and their staff; 4) Preparation of documents to support formal stances, in coordination with congressional affairs staff, regarding prospective legislation; and 5) Provision of advice on the effect of legislation.
