Serves as a National Traffic Management Officer (NTMO) at the Air Traffic Control System Command Center (ATCSCC) responsible for planning and directing operations in various areas of responsibility. Provides leadership and supervision to teams of National Traffic Management Specialists. The NTMO plays an integral operational role in the separation and control of air traffic in the National Airspace System (NAS).
Duties
The incumbent as assigned on a shift by shift basis, ensures that traffic instructions/restrictions are initiated according to established procedures to maintain a safe and expeditious flow of traffic and minimize the impact of events affecting the National Airspace System (NAS). This work directly impacts the effectiveness and efficiency of the day-to-day operations of the NAS. The NTMO is required to accomplish diverse responsibilities in system leadership, planning and direction. This includes resolving more difficult problems and resolving differences between different preferences for solutions held by customers, regional facilities, and ATCSCC personnel.

- Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.

- Designated or Random Drug Testing required.
- Successful completion of security/background investigation may be required
- This is NOT a bargaining unit position.
- This position is covered by P.L. 92-297 for early retirement purposes.
- The person selected for this position must maintain medical clearance.
- A one year supervisory/managerial probationary period may be required.
Qualifications
Candidates must show specialized experience. Specialized experience is defined as:1)Must have held an FAA 2152-FV-J/FG-14 or above regional or headquarters position for at least 1 year (52 weeks); OR2)Must have been facility rated or area certified for at least 1 year (52 weeks) in an ATS facility OR3) Must have held a MSS position for at least 1 year (52 weeks) in an ATS facility (see NOTE)NOTE: An employee who has been facility rated or area certified for at least 1 year (52 weeks) in an ATS facility that is upgraded is considered to meet the qualification requirements of the upgraded position, since he or she has been performing the higher graded work.NOTE: There are no restrictions on who can apply to MSS vacancies at those facilities with 3 or less MSS levels.AND In addition to the qualifications listed above for MSS positions, the chart on MSS positions will be used to determine which career level applicants are qualified to make application.Candidates will be evaluated on four "Managerial Selection Factors".Managerial Selection Factors: Candidates must provide separate narrative responses to address his/her experience in MWP Selection Factors 1 through 4. Applicants who fail to address the Leadership and Management Dimensions on-line will be disqualified.
