You will serve as a AIR TRAFFIC CONTROL SPECIALIST (TERMINAL) in the AIR TRAFFIC CONTROL (ATC), BRANCH,AIRFIELD OPERATIONS DIVISION of MARINE CORPS AIR STATION, NEW RIVER.
Duties
You will issue clearances and traffic information to aircraft landing, departing, or operating within the airport traffic area.
You will conduct flight checks to verify compliance with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations.
You will operate airport lighting, lighting systems, and visual landing aids for pilot assistance.
You will guide aircraft that are conducting non-precision radar approaches using an airport surveillance radar.
You will relay traffic and limited vectoring information to confirm aircraft (e.g., airplanes, jets, helicopters) is operating with the assigned area of jurisdiction.
Requirements

- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
- Air traffic control specialists must possess the facility ratings required at the facility where the position is located. You will be required to maintain a valid Air Traffic Control Specialist and/or Control Tower Operator Certificate.
- Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
- Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
- Air traffic control specialists must possess the facility ratings required at the facility where the position is located. You will be required to possess and maintain a valid Control Tower Operator Certificate.
- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination. This position requires the ability to maintain a valid NAVAL Class II physical Certificate.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or pass the test. You will be subject to random testing.
- This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
- This position requires rotating shift work.
- This position may require occasional working hours modification for conducting special military operations, late closes, and early openings.
- This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
- Must possess a valid and current Naval Class II physical certificate
- Must possess a Control Tower Operator (CTO) Certificate and current Naval Class II physical certificate.
- This position is non-sensitive for security clearance purposes.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Providing technical expertise in Air Traffic Control operations (i.e. Tower Local Control, Tower Ground Control, Radar Approach) and coordinate control and direct aircraft traffic and movement of aircraft through the Radar Flight Data Controller.
