Duties

You will implement force protection measures in compliance with laws and regulations. You will review offense and investigative reports involving incidents (e.g., crimes, traffic accidents, civil complaints) for content and accuracy. You will collect, record, or present evidence in court cases. You will conduct investigative stops on violators of traffic laws. You will control access to secure areas by determining which vehicles or personnel have credentials for entry.

• This is a bargaining unit position.
• You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States drivers license.
• You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
• You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
• This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. You will be required to sign a DD-Form-2760, Qualification to possess firearms or ammunition.
• Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
• This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
• Employee must successfully pass an initial, annual, or any required OPM, DoD, or Department of the Navy mental and emotional stability screening, physical agility test, and physical fitness for duty test.
• Incumbent must be able to read, write and speak English. Must meet OPM hearing and vision requirements to include distinguishing basic shades of color.
• Must maintain the applicable weapons qualification standards at the assigned installation. Must meet applicable federal and/or state minimum age requirements for the assigned installation.
• Employees are subjected to a pre-employment background check and ongoing background checks to affirm employability as a Police Officer.
• The incumbent must carry firearms and maintain proficiency in the use of assigned equipment. You must meet the qualifications and be certified to carry a firearm. You will need to maintain firearm proficiency.
• Employee is required to wear an assigned uniform and display official designated items or accessories to include?additional required equipment. The employee must follow and adhere to applicable grooming standards for the installation.

Qualifications

GS-0083-05: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at/or equivalent to the GS-04 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Issuing citations for violations of the law; 2) Preparing reports and orders for dissemination to other law enforcement officials; and 3) Protecting property, equipment, data, or materials. GS-0083-06: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at/or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Issuing citations in violation of law enforcement regulations; 2) Conducting investigations related to critical incidents (i.e., traffic accidents, domestic violence, assaults, child abuse/neglect) in accordance to policies and procedures; 3) Interviewing witnesses to gather information about incidents; and 4) Conducts inspections of vehicles to detect the unauthorized removal of classified material, government property, contraband, weapons, explosives or any items detrimental to security. Must also successfully complete any annual sustainment training, Level 1 Oleoresin Capsicum (OC) contamination training (if applicable), and OC refresher training. This position does not meet the definition of Law Enforcement Officer (LEO) and is excluded from coverage as LEO for purposes of the Federal Employment Retirement System-Base Annuity in accordance with 5 CFR, Part 842, Subpart H.

GS-0083-05: Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree in Police Science or a comparable degree program related to the work of the position.
