Joining the Secret Service, Office of Human Resources, will allow you to perform the full range of Human Resources Specialist work in one or more of our branches such as Classifications; Policy and Accountability; Performance Management; or HR Research and Assessment with the added support of Human Resources specific training in the Secretary Honors Program for Human Resources. You will be a part of a designated DHS Cohort of HR Specialists for this two-year program.

Qualifications

Selected individuals are placed in a dynamic one-year development program in the excepted service designed to lead to a competitive civil service career in the Federal government. At the successful conclusion of this program, the agency may non-competitively convert individuals to a term (position lasting 1-4 years with an extension up to 120 days) or permanent position within the competitive service. Qualifications  GS-5: You qualify for the GS-5 level (starting salary $42,870) if you possess the following:   Completion of 4 academic years of post-high school leading to a bachelor's degree or equivalent degree   GS-7: You qualify for the GS-7 level (starting salary $53,105) if you possess the following:   1 full year of graduate level education; or eligibility under the Superior Academic Achievement (S.A.A) Provision and completion of a bachelor’s degree   S.A.A. is based on (1) class standing, (2) grade-point average, or (3) honor society membership. Class standing -- Applicants must be in the upper third of the graduating class in the college, university, or major subdivision, such as the College of Liberal Arts or the School of Business Administration, based on completed courses. Grade-point average (G.P.A.) -- Applicants must have a grade-point average of: 3.0 or higher out of a possible 4.0 ("B" or better) as recorded on their official transcript, or as computed based on 4 years of education, or as computed based on courses completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum; or 3.5 or higher out of a possible 4.0 ("B+" or better) based on the average of the required courses completed in the major field or the required courses in the major field completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum. Education:  All academic degrees and course work must be from accredited or pre-accredited institution. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Qualifications Must Be Met: The qualification requirements listed above must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
