About the Position: This position is for an Operations Research Systems Analyst for Headquarters, Army Materiel Command at Redstone Arsenal, Alabama. Serves as team lead who takes an analytic approach to analyze topics including operations, Logistics, and the supply chain in the context of materiel and weapon systems performance and efficiency.
This position is located in the U.S. Army Materiel Command, AMC Analysis Group (AMCAG) at Redstone Arsenal.
Duties
Collaborate with senior decision makers, translating their intent into actionable studies with implementable results.
Perform significant studies that have vague guidance, have poorly structured problem statements, and have little available data.
Perform studies on operational effectiveness, logistics and supply chain performance, business practices, and efficiencies across a broad enterprise.
Analyze critical problems in order to advise leadership of the advantages and disadvantages of various approaches.
Utilize advanced quantitative and qualitative analytical techniques and methodologies.
Serve as a study team leader responsible for planning, conducting, and presenting complex systems analyses in support of Army and Department of Defense (DoD) programs.
Present study plans, results and recommendations with the appropriate level of detail for the intended audience.
Conduct analyses of major complexity requiring creativity and significant professional knowledge of operations research techniques and the supply chain business area.
Serve as a recognized authority to the Senior Operations Research Analyst for the Army Material Command Analysis Group.
Assessing and understanding the problems, developing plans/approaches, devising new methods or extending existing theory to new and unusual problems.
Requirements
- Selectees must meet position requirements for certification at Level I in Program Management within 36 months of entrance on duty.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of up to 25% of the time.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.

Basic Requirement for Operations Research Analyst: Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in operations research; or a degree with at least 24 semester hours in a combination of operations research, mathematics, probability, statistics, mathematical logic, science, or subject-matter courses requiring substantial competence in college-level mathematics or statistics. At least 3 of the 24 semester hours must have been in calculus.
In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience with operations research, mathematics, statistics, and/or engineering techniques; provide innovative scientific and mathematical approaches to the analysis of logistics, supply chain, financial, materiel, and/or weapon system problems. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-13).
