This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Information Technology Management (INFOSEC) to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: Serves as an IT Specialist (INFOSEC) for TRAC providing network/computer security and risk management planning, strategic planning, management and technical support for the certification of networks, systems, applications, and associated computer hardware/software resources.

Duties

Serves as an information system/network security analyst supporting the TRAC Information Assurance Program. Identifies cyber threat information and supporting Information Assurance certification, accreditation and security issues. Organizes and coordinates the implementation of information processing standards related to system security/Information Assurance for geographically dispersed locations. Responsible for the system design, security, configuration, operation, maintenance and installation of firewalls, Intrusion Detection Systems, vulnerability scans, Virtual Private Network (VPN), and network security assessments. Provides information assurance/information system security for networks comprised of data communication and computing devices (i.e., gateways, routers, terminal servers, modems, encryption devices and other INFOSEC products).

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires a Secret security clearance.
  • The position requires up to 25% business travel.
  • Per AR 25-2, Security+ or Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) Certification required within one year of EOD.

IT related Experience: For all positions individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below. The employing agency is responsible for identifying the specific level of proficiency required for each competency at each grade level based on the requirements of the position being filled. 1) Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. 2) Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. 3) Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. 4) Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. -AND- To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of specialized experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience includes work that involved 1 ) monitoring information assurance/computer network defense readiness and 2) analyzing results from information assurance assessments/scanning tools to secure information technology networks.
