To qualify for GS-09, you must have:
a) One year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 level in the Federal service:
Operating conventional machining equipment, such as mills or lathes, in a manufacturing environment under normal supervision;
Assisting in the inspection of part dimensions using standard machine shop measuring equipment, such as calipers, micrometers, or dial indicators, to ensure parts are within drawing tolerances;
Utilizing common mechanical skills, such as torquing fasteners, installing rivets or applying adhesives to create an assembly of parts per manufacturing drawings.
OR
b) Completed all requirements for a master's degree or equivalent graduate degree in engineering, engineering technology, industrial technology, construction, physics, drafting, surveying, physical science, or mathematics.
OR
c) Completed at least 2 full academic years of graduate education in engineering, engineering technology, industrial technology, construction, physics, drafting, surveying, physical science, or mathematics.
OR
d) An equivalent combination of experience and graduate education
To qualify for GS-11, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 level in the Federal service:
Operating conventional and CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machining equipment in a manufacturing environment under normal supervision;
Inspecting part dimensions using precision measuring equipment, such as micrometers, gage blocks and pins, thread gauges, height gauges, internal bore micrometer, during the manufacturing process to ensure parts are within drawing tolerances;
Evaluating mechanical assemblies in CAD models or drawings to determine appropriate manufacturing or fabrication processes.
To qualify for GS-12, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level in the Federal service.
Utilizing Computer-aided Design/Computer-aided Manufacturing (CAD/CAM) software to program tool paths and operate Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machines, such as mills or lathes, in a manufacturing environment with minimal supervision;
Utilizing one or more electronic precision measuring equipment such as laser scanners, optical comparators, coordinate measuring machines, during the manufacturing process to ensure parts meet drawing Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T);
Collaborating with engineers or scientists to evaluate complex mechanical assemblies in CAD models or drawings to determine appropriate manufacturing or fabrication processes and equipment (mills, lathes, routers, wire Electrical Discharge Machining (EDM), laser, or waterjet).
Your resume must include a clear and detailed narrative description, in your own words, of how you meet the required specialized experience. Experience statements copied from a position description, vacancy announcement or other reference material constitutes plagiarism and may result in disqualification and losing consideration for the job.
