About the Position: This position is located in the U.S. Army Sustainment Command, 404TH Army Field Support Brigade, Army Field Support Brigade Log Readiness Center. Serves as the Equipment Maintenance Specialist for the operation of maintenance and administration with responsibility of the maintenance functions to perform Material Handling Equipment Tactical Wheeled Vehicle, Government Services Administration Vehicles, and maintenance of the Soldier Systems Center Transportation Motor Pool.

Duties

Reviews and approves maintenance summaries and equipment work orders submitted throughout the installation. Monitors and directs changes to the Safety and Advisory Program (SOUM) as required. Reviews and approves maintenance actions dealing with inventory, and reorder reports. Observes and approves the direct implementation of the Modification Work Order Program. Reviews and approves all reports, evaluations, technical exhibits, DD Form 314s and inspects maintenance records. Inspects equipment in repair shops or deadline status to check the extent of preventive maintenance, to determine need for additional operator maintenance, and to observe overall condition of equipment. Reviews vehicle and equipment maintenance schedules to determine that necessary repairs are being performed to keep them safe and serviceable, reviews records of repairs and utilization data. Inspects all vehicles and advises as to acceptance condition, assures warranty repairs are accomplished prior to assignment whenever possible, initiates documentation for disposal action for unused or obsolete equipment. Assists in establishing policies and procedures pertaining to the maintenance of vehicles and property. Maintains driver records on installation employees (both Government and Contractor) who drive government vehicles. Serves as technical expert on the command's tactical vehicles, power generation, and electronic systems and associated support and test equipment.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time.
  • The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a background investigation to determine your suitability for Federal employment.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree with a major study in engineering technician, industrial arts, property management, or business administration. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: CommunicationsProblem SolvingProject ManagementTechnical Competence Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
