THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a HUMAN RESOURCES ASSISTANT (MILITARY) (TITLE 32), Position Description Number D1623000 and is part of the IL 126, National Guard.

Duties

As a HUMAN RESOURCES ASSISTANT (MILITARY) (TITLE 32), GS-0203-5/6/7, you will assist a higher graded specialist in researching/studying/analyzing and administering all aspects of the assigned function(s). Major Duties - This is NOT an all-inclusive list: Quality review reports for compliance with current directives and standards. Coordinate, monitor, and ensure accountability of annual tour participation. Participate in development of procedures and establishment of policy for building, updating, auditing, and for accountability and disposition of automated and manual records. Ensure action is taken to correct military records when required. Assist in making classification eligibility determinations of personnel for retraining status. Perform personnel relocation actions pertaining to voluntary and involuntary reassignments, separations, retirements, conditional release programs, separations based upon Medical Evaluation Board/disability separations and retirements, Stop Loss waiver requests, Selective Retention separations, and inter and intra service transfers. Research Unit Personnel Record Group (UPRG) and various source documents pertinent to service data discrepancies. Authenticate prior and non-prior service enlistments, and prepare and processes enlistment and appointment documents. Safeguard and, when appropriate, destroy classified material in compliance with COMSEC procedures and in accordance with Air Force instructions, higher headquarters, and local guidance. Provide information to members on options and benefits; advise unit commanders of status; and prepare, process, and place suspense on the documentation until the member is reinstated or discharged and/or retired. Ensure unit members are aware of various benefits available through TRICARE medical/dental programs, Survivor Benefits, Thrift Savings Plan (TSP), etc. Participates in management of the Military Dress and Appearance program. Participate in preparation of and present periodic briefings/orientations on mobilization procedures to commanders required to support deployments.

AREA OF CONSIDERATION: The areas of considerations for this position, Title 32 Excepted Service (32 U.S. Code § 709), will be in the following manner and sequence The FIRST area of consideration for this position will be all excepted permanent and indefinite temporary technicians in the 126th ARW. The SECOND area of consideration will be all other members of the Illinois National Guard or those eligible for membership. Military Grades: Enlisted - Minimum Rank of A1C. Maximum Rank of SSGT GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Must possess administrative or clerical experience, education, or training which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of this position and experience using computer and automation systems. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: GS-7 Level- Must possess specialized experience which includes at least 12 months experience in the interpretation and application of regulations, procedures or laws; experience that provided a working knowledge of administrative functions; experience performing personnel transactions; experience working independently and setting priorities with very little supervisory control. GS-6 Level- Must possess specialized experience which includes at least 9 months experience, education or training that provided knowledge of general office work which may include but is not limited to: answering telephones, receiving and distributing mail and maintaining records; experience following oral or written instructions to accomplish work; experience establishing and retrieving files and information; experience using common computer software designed for word processing. GS-5 Level- Must possess specialized experience which includes at least 6 months experience, education or training that provided knowledge of general office work which may include but is not limited to: answering telephones, receiving and distributing mail and maintaining records; experience following oral or written instructions to accomplish work; experience establishing and retrieving files and information; experience using common computer software designed for word processing. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Education

Only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours (i.e., beyond the second year) is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement. One full academic year of study (30 semester hours) beyond the second year is equivalent to 6 months of specialized experience for GS-5 positions.
