The position serves as a Supervisory Nurse located in Urgent Care Clinic, Division of Nursing Services, Four Corners Regional Health Center (FCRHC), Red Mesa, AZ. Incumbent is responsible for a full range of administrative, educational and clinical duties. Incumbent may occasionally assist with the operation of the outpatient clinic. The position reports to the Supervisory Nurse (Director of Nursing).
Duties
Ensures nursing is practiced in accordance with professional values and moral principles, procedures to assist patient needs. Effectively coordinates and supervises services to ensure delivery of quality patient care. Identifies, investigates, and coordinates the resolutions and follow-up of problems. Adapts and intervenes during crises situations. Identifies developmental and training needs of employees in department. Participates in orientating new employees.
Responsible for providing direction, leadership, guidance, professionalism, supervision, and evaluation to the nursing staff. Responsible for planning work for completion of work schedules, adjusting work schedule as needed to meet the staffing and patient care needs. Provides adequate nursing coverage for safe and effective patient care.
Performs a wide range of nursing care for patients in all age groups and their families who present with an unlimited range of different health related problems. Utilizes the nursing process and exercises sound judgment. Administers therapeutic measures as prescribed by the physician. Closely observes patients which may require emergency measures.

Qualifications

BASIC REQUIREMENT(S):
Education: A graduate or higher level degree, bachelor's degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing educational program is required. This education must have been accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (external link), Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs (external link), Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education (external link), or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (external link) at the time the degree was obtained.
Degree from Foreign Nursing School: Official certification from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools (external link) is required for individuals who graduated from foreign nursing schools.
Licensure: For all grade levels and positions, applicants must have passed the National Council Licensure Examination (external link). In addition, they must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
In addition, to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below - In addition to the mandatory license and education described above under Basic Requirements applicants must have at least one or more full years of professional nursing experience that is equivalent to the next lower grade level.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-11) in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Plan, direct, coordinate, and evaluate work of nursing personnel to ensure standards are reviewed; provide leadership, nursing expertise, program assessment, strategic planning, implementation and evaluation clinic unit.
SUPERVISORY AND MANAGERIAL ABILITIES: Candidates must have demonstrated in their work experience or training that they possess, or have the potential to develop, the qualities of successful supervision, as listed under the appropriate category below:
Ability to motivate, train and work effectively with subordinates who have a variety of background and training.
Ability to accomplish the quality and quantity of work expected with set limits of cost and time.
Ability to plan own work and carry out assignments effectively.
Ability to communicate with others effectively, both orally and in writing, in working out solutions to problems or questions related to work.
Ability to understand and further manage goals as these affect day-to-day work operations.
Ability to develop improvements in or design new work methods and procedures.
