Duties

You will operate a central switchboard to actuate remotely controlled circuit breakers, transformers, and switches to regulate and maintain correct voltage on distribution lines. You will diagnose malfunctions in electrical circuits on power distribution equipment. You will check and adjust electrical output capacity and electrical power generation to meet varying loads. You will monitor data from wattmeter's, voltmeters, and ammeters of feeders to ensure equipment is operating correctly. You will adjust controls to regulate the flow of electric power.

Requirements

  • Must have a current California class C license or higher. Required to operate forklifts in an incidental basis, must qualify for and maintain a government license for all equipment in accordance with Navy P300 licensing regulations.
  • All employees will be included on the after-hours emergency recall list. In the event of a major emergency or disaster, all employees will be required to report their supervisor in a most timely manner' as possible.
  • Employee may be subject to rotational work assignments for extended periods to perform duties at various locations but not limited to the wharfs and off shore islands.
  • This is a bargaining unit position.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver?s license.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO DO THE WORK OF THE POSITION WITHOUT MORE THAN NORMAL SUPERVISION performing the following: 1) Distributing and controlling electrical distribution systems; 2) Operating switchboards to remotely control circuit breakers, transformers and switches in order to regulate and maintain proper voltage on the distribution lines; and 3) Interpreting operating instructions and distribution equipment operating criteria to determine when to adjust the taps on an transformer in order to maintain voltage on the feeder. **NOTE** This information must be clearly supported in your resume.
