Duties

Recommend environmental program changes to aide in environmental compliance procedures. Analyze laboratory reports to determine the presence of hazardous environmental conditions. Monitor equipment for accuracy, calibration, and proper functionality to ensure task can be accomplished. Obtain samples to submit to the laboratory for analysis. Conduct inspections to ensure compliance with environmental laws. Request permits to ensure environmental compliance.

Requirements

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
• This position is subject to a pre-employment drug screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
• The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
• This position has a requirement to lift up to 50 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
• This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time for business purposes.
• This position requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Department of Defense (DoD) Certifications.
• This position will require personnel to wear personal protective equipment, to include and not limited to respirators, rubber boots, coveralls, googles, aprons, gloves, devices, and ect.
• This position requires you to be able to obtain and maintain appropriate security clearance for access to Depot Production Computer System.
• Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
• Must obtain and maintain a Personnel Background Investigation (NACI).

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Assisting with environmental programs to meet program goals. 2) Reviewing environmental permits to ensure accuracy. AND 3) Assisting with environmental inspections to ensure compliance with environmental laws. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D. [remove LL.B or J.D., if unrelated] in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: [insert applicable field(s) of study]. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.
