Geriatrics & Extended Care (G&EC) provides care and counseling of older adults to promote independence, support quality of life and mitigate common syndromes associated with ageing or in the promotion and maintenance of health and prevention of illness and injury based upon the nursing process which includes systematic data gathering, assessment, appropriate nursing judgment, and evaluation of human responses to actual or potential health problems, health teaching, & health counseling.

Applicants pending the completion of educational or certification/licensure requirements may be referred and tentatively selected but may not be hired until all requirements are met.

The full performance level of this vacancy is GS 7.
Physical Requirements: Must be able to perform work that requires frequent walking, bending, lifting of 45 pounds or more, stooping, reaching, stretching, and similar activities supporting various weights. Other activities include pushing carts, equipment, and wheelchairs. Must be able to care for patients with medical and psychiatric illnesses and must be able to care for patients who have a potential to be physically and verbally abusive. Must have adequate hearing to be able to respond to various interactions over telecommunication systems and must have good verbal and written communication skills.
