About the Position: You will function as a Technical Specialist with responsibility for providing continuous evaluation, program direction, and coordination of the recreation and natural resources management activities at water resource development projects.

Duties

Develop and coordinate recreation and natural resources management programs and policies for multipurpose projects, with adjoining Districts, and with other federal, state, and local government entities. Coordinate events and actions related to recreation and natural resources program areas. Use an interdisciplinary approach in reviewing operational management plans and other plans for the development and administration of civil works water resource development lakes and locks in the district. Coordinate with other district elements to assure that the design and location of proposed developments will create a minimal environmental impact or operational issues. Develop and implements programs to inform or gather information from the public about lake and lock recreation programs and natural resources. Provide technical advice on, or implements, national programs at the district level. May serve as instructor for District/Division courses such as Visitor Assistance, Interpretive Services, etc. Coordinate user fee program priorities with facility managers and with other district elements.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). OR Have successfully completed a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work of the position, such as biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position.
