About the Position: This position is located with the 406th Army Field Support Brigade, Logistics Readiness Center, Maintenance Division, in Fort Stewart, Georgia.

Duties
Inspect small arms to determine serviceability and condition of repairs necessary.
Repair small weapons by replacing obsolete parts and/or assemblies.
Observe rules and regulations to ensure all safety and physical security standards are followed.
Use hand tools to make repairs and adjustments.
List repairs on appropriate forms to indicate needed repairs.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a Tier 3 "F" security investigation
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position
- The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time
- This position is subject to the provisions of the Domestic Violence Offender Gun Ban commonly referred to as the Lautenberg Amendment.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
- The duties of this position meet the criteria for compliance with Federal and Department of the Army Drug Free Workplace Programs. This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter

Current Civilian Employees of the U.S. Army Sustainment Command, 406th Army Field Support Brigade, Fort Stewart, GA, Logistics Readiness Center, within the local commuting area - Consideration will also be given to current Department of Army Civilian employees with competitive status.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.
Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Small Arms Repairer without more than normal supervision to include 1) perform common initial inspection of small arms to determine repairs needed; 2) disassemble, repair, and replace components on small arms; 3) final inspection to ensure repairs were completed correctly 4) perform weapon operational tests - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

PHYSICAL EFFORT Incumbent frequently lifts items weighing up to 20 pounds. Objects up to 50 pounds are occasionally lifted. Work requires walking, bending, and long periods of standing.
WORKING CONDITIONS Work is performed in shop, or at unit arms rooms, with occasional trips to firing ranges. Floors are concrete or steel. Exposed to excessive noise when test firing weapons; injury due to handling tools and weapons; injury due to shocks; contact with dirt, grease, dust, and fumes; and more serious injury when unloading jammed or misfired weapons, ricochet bullets or acids. Required to wear PPE such as but not limited to safety shoes, eye protection, hearing protection andgloves.
