About the Position: This position is located within the Directorate of Dental General Dentistry at Defense Health Agency Defense Health Network Pacific Rim Naval Air Station San Diego, CA. The primary purpose of this position is performing a variety of duties encompassing the full range of decontaminating, cleaning, processing, preparing, ordering and distributing a complete range of reusable dental and medical instruments, equipment and supplies. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation

Duties

Decontaminate, prepare instruments, and maintain equipment. Receives, disassembles and inspects for damaged reusable dental supplies, instruments and equipment. Determines correct method for sterilizing and disassembles, cleans, reassembles and decontaminates instruments as required. Assembles sets and trays by selecting the appropriate tray. Aids and assists in the plans and policies covering state of the art procedures from the sterile Materiel Management Program. Responsible for keeping a variety of logs as mandated by management, Command and higher echelons instruction, policies and guidelines.

Requirements

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
• This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 5 % of the time.
• Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
• This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination.
• This position requires the completion of an Occupational Health pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter.
• This position is subject to screening and update of required immunizations unless exempted for medical or administrative reasons. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact.
• This position has a requirement to lift up to 30 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes determining the best sterilization method to utilize in the sterilization of medical/surgical supplies or equipment and utilizing an electronic system to track the sterilization status of medical/surgical supplies or equipment. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). OR Education: A half year (i.e., 9 semester hours) of graduate level education in a field directly related to the work of the position, such as operating room technician, medical instrument technician, or supply technician. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 9. Add the two percentages.
