About the position: This position will be assigned to the arts and crafts department on Edwards AFB.
The purpose of this position is to teach a variety of arts and crafts classes, including but not limited to: Painting and drawing, pottery and ceramics, sewing and textiles, jewelry making and beading, woodworking and carpentry.
Duties
The purpose of this position is to teach a variety of arts and crafts classes, including but not limited to: Painting and drawing, Pottery and ceramics, Sewing and textiles, Jewelry-making and beading, Woodworking and carpentry, Mixed media and collage, other specialty crafts as determined by the program. Develop and implement lesson plans, including preparing materials, setting up classrooms, and cleaning up after classes. Provide individualized instruction and guidance to students, adapting to their unique needs and learning styles. Demonstrate techniques, provide examples, and offer constructive feedback to students. Encourage creativity, experimentation, and exploration of new techniques and mediums. Maintain a safe and organized classroom environment, adhering to safety protocols and guidelines. Promote programs and classes through social media, flyers, and other marketing materials. Evaluate program effectiveness and make recommendations for improvement. Collaborate with other instructors and staff to develop new programs and classes. Participate in special events, exhibits, and demonstrations as required

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.
Qualifying Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent. Minimum of 2 years of experience teaching arts and crafts classes, preferably in a community or recreational setting. Strong knowledge of various arts and crafts techniques, materials, and mediums. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work with patrons of all ages and skill levels. Patience, creativity, and a passion for teaching and learning. Ability to lift 25 pounds and stand for long periods. Must successfully pass a pre-employment physical.

Education
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution.
FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.
