About the Position: This is for a PERMANENT position at Fort Jackson, South Carolina. Serves as the Government Information Specialist for Directorate of Human Resources, Administrative Services Division.
Duties
Serve as the Government Information Specialist for Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and Privacy Act (PA)/Personally Identifiable Information (PII).
Determine the requirements and develops plans, actions, systems, procedures, guidelines, and training requirements, to provide for the efficient and economical administrative management.
Resolve technical questions relating to Privacy Act, FOIA/PA requests and PII issues.
Monitor, analyze, and/or evaluate program status and execution throughout the installation to ensure continuity, accuracy, and completeness of actions.
Research and analyze highly sensitive material to make recommendations for action of documents.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed Tier 1 background investigation.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 5% of the time.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes Processing FOIA/PA request and applying FOIA/PA exemptions. 2) Knowledge of the Freedom of Information Act Tracking Systems (FACT) redacting tools and prepare written responses. 3) Knowledge and understanding of Initial Denial Authorities (IDAs).This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).
