You will serve as a PACKER in the S4 I&L INSTALLATIONS AND LOGISTICS of MARINE CORPS AIR STATION MIRAMAR.
Duties
You will independently determine the types of materials, containers, devices, and preservation needed to prepare a full range of standard and specialized materials and equipment for custom packing shipment or storage.
You will check material received for shipment against shipping documents to determine accuracy of nomenclature, stock number, and condition of material.
You will prepare and protect materials, accessories, assemblies, and parts, including delicate instruments, irregular shaped items, and bulky items in accordance with established packing procedures.
You will prepare and protect material processed against mechanical damage.
You will assemble reusable containers, fiberboard boxes, applying tape and/or metal strapping.
You will operate forklift trucks for loading, and unloading, packing, and performing a variety of functions for the section.
You will verify correctness of documentation and markings applied by other personnel to shipping containers.
Requirements
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- You must be willing and able to lift and/or carry loads/items up to 40 pounds (with assistance up to 70 pounds) in weight
- You must possess a current Forklift certification; or, I am willing and able to attain a Forklift certification within one year of selection.
Qualifications
Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.
