You will serve as a Shipwright in the ???????Repair Department, Waterfront Services Division (Shop 64A) of TRIDENT REFIT FACILITY, BANGOR.
Duties
You will position and build up keel blocks, bilge blocks and other structures upon which vessel will rest when water is pumped from graving dock.
You will maintain overall alignment of ships and plots reference points and lines during construction or repair.
You will perform layout, installation or patching of plastic laminates, hull insulation, sound damping, and septum plates.
You will have a thorough working knowledge of the full range of hand and power tools, woodworking tools, machines, and techniques.
You will determine the sequence of operations and necessary equipment for assigned jobs.
You will read, interpret and work from process instructions, blueprints, drawings and sketches.
Requirements

- Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
- This is a bargaining unit position.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- This position may require you to lift and/or carry loads/items up to 50 pounds in weight and occasionally over 50 pounds.
- You will be required to work on board ships or pier side.
- This position may require you to climb ladders and scaffolding.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- This position may require you to work in small and/or confined spaces.
- This position requires working in uncomfortable and cramped positions, stooping, bending, kneeling, reaching, and climbing.
- This position may require qualifying for a government operator license on forklifts, aerial work platforms, vehicles, and/or bridge cranes.
- This position requires applicants to have no more than a normal fear of heights.
- This position requires applicants to have peripheral vision that will enable the avoidance of falls and moving objects.
Qualifications
