You will serve as a HAZARDOUS MATERIALS HANDLER in the LOGISTICS DEPARTMENT of MCAS BEAUFORT SC.

Duties

You will work closely with the Qualified Recycle Program (QRP) and Hazardous Waste Coordinators in NREAO. You will assist the QRP and Hazardous Waste Coordinators in gathering and documenting data for required Resources Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), state reports, and pollution prevention reports. You will accept recyclable property after inspection, ensuring the documentation is in order and that containers are in proper condition and properly identified. You will carry out various assignments for operation of the oil pollution abatement program. You will operate cardboard baler and use equipment in loading and transporting of materials in containers or in bulk.

  • You will be required to posses and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • You must be willing and able to lift and/or carry loads/items up to 100 pounds in weight.
  • This position requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain all Applicable license(s), certificates and or authorizations needed to operate all assigned garrison mobile equipment, material handling equipment and specialty equipment resident.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • I am willing to obtain and maintain all license(s), certificates and or authorizations required.

Basic Knowledge of Department of Transportation regulations, Occupational Health and Safety Administration regulations, Resources Conservation and Recovery Act, Emergency Planning and Community Right to Know Act, and/or the Oil Pollution Act of 1990, to include requirements for selecting, labeling, inspecting, containerizing, moving, or otherwise handling hazardous materials and wastes, placarding of vehicles, manifesting, and emergency spill response procedures preferred.
