You will serve as a SMALL ARMS REPAIRER in the Navy Installations Command of NS NORFOLK SECURITY DETACHMENT.
Duties
You will perform preventative and corrective maintenance on weapons, protective equipment, and law enforcement related equipment.
You will issue and maintain weapons and personal protective equipment to security and law enforcement personnel.
You will ensure all weapons and ammunition are accounted for and required inventories executed within specified period.
You will ensure all required standard operating procedures and applicable instructions for the armory remain current.
Requirements

- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
- Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

- Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

- This is a bargaining unit position.
- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- You must meet the qualifications and be certified to carry a firearm. You will need to maintain firearm proficiency.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- Must be able to occasionally travel to other installations/units to perform similar work/duties.
- Must gain access to NAVSEA PMS scheduling application and use this application to schedule preventive maintenance/document accomplishment of preventive maintenance.
- Must attain OIS - R account and be able to report ammunition transactions via OIS - R.
- Must attain/maintain access to NSWC Crane small arms registry for unit reporting purposes.
- This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. You will be required to sign a DD-Form-2760, Qualification to possess firearms or ammunition.

The Screen-out Element for this position is:
ABILITY TO DO THE WORK OF THE POSITION WITHOUT MORE THAN NORMAL SUPERVISION performing the following:
1) Operating power generation and distribution systems supporting a myriad of industrial and residential operations on the Naval base; 2) Operating control panels that allow remote starting of diesel engine powered generators as well as monitoring commercial power and conversion to auxiliary power systems; 3) Monitoring of voltage and amperage and make exacting adjustments to the system to assure adequate power for load demands; 4) Reading/analyzing a variety of interrelated meter indications to detect abnormal conditions such as, circuit overloads, improper line voltages, or equipment temperature; and 5) Determining the causes of these abnormal conditions and make necessary corrections by adjusting controls.
