This position is located in the Chinle Service Unit, Division of Navajo Regional Human Resources Office. The primary purpose of this position is to coordinate and provide technical assistance for timekeeping and related payroll activities including process pay documents and benefits for employees. Reviews reports to process corrections in the payroll system. Uses policy and procedures to file tickets in regards to correcting pay and timecards for all employees

Duties

Provides guidance and assistance to timekeepers with training and configuring profiles Responds to pay and leave inquiries by processing leave and pay corrections; making follow-ups with timekeepers. Advises and ensures all coding and deadlines are met. Reviews, computes, and processes pay adjustments by gathering pay and timecard documents. Researches and responds to inquiries verbally or in writing to customers. Conducts training to employees, supervisors, timekeepers regarding work schedules, pay codes, leave rules and regulations. Reviews error notices and makes corrections utilizing HR software programs, pay stubs, and timecards. HR Functions - Creates and submits tickets with payroll into an automated system when pay issues arise. Process pay actions and determine the nature of requests to the appropriate Human Resources Staff. Provides new employee orientation and obtains access to the automated payroll system in which the employee will obtain pay statements. Uses computer and work stations linked to networks, and associated equipment to complete duties, including processing data reports and presentations.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: GS-05: Four (4) years above high school; or one (1) year specialized experience equivalent to the GS-04 grade level. Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Utilize an automated system to research pay regulations to enter data actions; ability to calculate, process data and follow instructions and procedures; advise and deal with customers orally and in writing. GS-06: One (1) year specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 grade level. Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Process pay and leave actions by using various automated pay systems; record, reconcile and balance pay data. Process retroactive adjustments and tracing errors, after completing an audit, to correct pay entitlement by applying rules and regulations. Advise and deal with customers orally and in writing. GS-07: One (1) year specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 grade level. Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Process and make computation by preparing forms and submitting tickets through the automated system to make adjustments and/or corrections by using laws and Federal regulations. Audit pay and leave accounts, using research to make retroactive adjustments and trace errors which may involve corrective actions. Create and maintain reports. Advise and deal with customers orally and in writing. Time In Grade Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP). You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.

Education

You may qualify for the position based on education. Education generally not applicable for the GS-06/07 levels.
