You will serve as a LOFTER in the Structural and Fabrication Shop (920) of PEARL HARBOR NSY AND IMF.
Duties
You will perform ship repair work on board Ships (Submarines/Surface Crafts), Shops or other Naval establishments.
You will apply a variety of methods, procedures, and techniques to perform fabrication/repair/ removal/ installation of structural components per technical manuals, job orders, design field instructions, blueprints, design memos and sketches.
You will utilize IPI 0100-001D (Videogrammetry) and Various Metrology Procedures and Instructions.
You will lay out full sized ship plan working from blueprints and tables of offsets.
You will measure and mark the intersections and curvature of lines and the various determination points for the half-breadth plan, profile
plan, body plan, and various auxiliary views.
You will make templates for all metal structural parts of ships, working from blueprints, tables, and mold loft floor plan.
You will cut wood pieces for templates on band saw, does hand shaping as necessary, and nails or glues parts together. Makes wood mock-ups of ship parts and sections to guide or check upon shaping or positioning of parts.
You will take ship measurements and prepares templates from actual ship layout under circumstances, as on repair and alteration, when ship changes subsequent to plans.
You will develop special purpose jigs, fixtures, shaping, and forming processes required to fabricate newer type items from various structural stock, requiring especially close tolerance and advanced trade knowledge.
You will be required to perform work on nuclear jobs, utilizing typical trade knowledge and special training.

- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.

- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
