What General Information Do I Need To Know About This Position? Salary: GS-09: $69,923 (Step 01) to $90,898 (Step 10); Salary: GS-11: $84,601 (Step 01) to $109,975 (Step 10); Salary: GS-12: $101,401 (Step 01) to $131,826 (Step 10); NOTE: First time hires to the Federal Government are typically hired at the Step 01. This position is being advertised concurrently with USGS-DEN-25-12638498-DE-DLA that is open to all U.S. citizens.

As a Facilities Operations Specialist within the Office of Management Services, some of your specific duties will include:

Qualifications

Definitions: EXPERIENCE: One year of work experience is twelve months working full-time (at least 35-40 hours per week). Part-time experience can be pro-rated (i.e., a year at 20 hours per week is credited as 6 months of experience). If your position consisted of mixed duties, experience credit is given for the percentage of time that you spent on qualifying duties (i.e., if you held a position for 2 years, full-time, consisting of 25% personnel work and 75% budget work, and then applied for a budget position you could calculate your experience as follows: 2 yrs = 24 months. 24 months x 75% [percentage of time spent on budget duties] = 18 months of qualifying experience.) EDUCATION: One year of full-time academic study is 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in a college or university, or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business or technical school. This education must have been successfully completed and obtained in an accredited business, technical school, college or university for which high school graduation or the equivalent was a prerequisite. GRADUATE EDUCATION: In the absence of specific graduate program information, a year of graduate education is 18 semester hours or 27 quarter hours of graduate level college course work, or the number of credit hours the school attended has determined to represent 1 year of full time study. This education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university. For GS-09: Applicants must meet one of the following to qualify for the GS-09 level: One year of specialized experience in or directly related to this position that equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. To be creditable, the required specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-07 level in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Examples of such experience may include routinely tours buildings, grounds, assigned spaces, and inspects for proper operations, maintenance, and housekeeping; documents findings and initiates appropriate follow up action as required; works with customers to identify and address their needs and identifies methods for making improvements; completes quality assurance reviews within 10 days of it being assigned; follows up on work orders and repair tickets to ensure work is completed satisfactorily; immediately initiates action by entering a new work order if work is incomplete or does not meet standards; successfully carries out regular duties while also handling any difficult special assignments; assists with front desk duties when needed to answer phones, schedule conference room request, key request, and work order request; responds to customer requests quickly; answers phone calls timely; responds to emails on the same day; follows up to ensure the customer needs were met when customers are referred to other staff; explains requirements, procedures, and decisions in a manner which creates confidence and elicits cooperation on the part of the customer; OR Master's or equivalent graduate degree in engineering, industrial arts, property management, or business administration or successful completion of 2 years of progressively higher-level graduate education (36 semester hours, 54 quarter hours, or the equivalent) with major study in a subject area related to the position. To be creditable, the education must have provided the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position to be filled; OR A combination of appropriate specialized experience (as described above) and graduate education (as described above) that is beyond the first year of progressive graduate study to meet the qualification requirements. For GS-11: Applicants must meet one of the following to qualify for the GS-11 level: One year of specialized experience in or directly related to this position that equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. To be creditable, the required specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-09 level in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector; OR Examples of such experience may include assisting in preparing pertinent specifications and estimates for failed equipment repairs or replacements; performs quality assurance checks on work orders completed; updates status of work orders and reports all concerning issues to the supervisor; works with all staff to recommend various ways to maintain contractor performance and productivity while completing all planned maintenance monthly; displays exceptional verbal communication skills that are professional, well organized, proper in tone, display command of subject matter, and are easily understood; OR Ph. D. or equivalent doctoral degree in a related discipline or successful completion of 3 years of progressively higher-level graduate education (54 semester hours, 81 quarter hours, or the equivalent) with a major study in a subject area related to the position. To be creditable, the education must have provided the knowledge, skills, and ability necessary to do the work of the position to be filled; OR A combination of appropriate specialized experience (as described above) and graduate education (as described above) that is beyond the second year of progressive graduate study to meet the qualification requirements. For GS-12: Applicants must meet one of the following to qualify for the GS-12 level: One year of specialized experience in or directly related to this position that equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. To be creditable, the required specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-11 level in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Examples of such experience may include providing leadership for effective administration and continuing improvement of facilities business processes and practices; develops new or documents existing office practices that are used as standard operating procedures; develops additional tools, process, or stand operating procedures for facility inspections; follows up on work orders and repair tickets to ensure work is completed satisfactorily; immediately initiates action by entering a new work order if work is incomplete or does not meet standards. You must meet all qualification and eligibility requirements for the position by the closing date of the announcement.
