You will serve as a INVENTORY MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST in the STATION PROPERTY CONTROL DEPARTMENT of MCAS CHERRY POINT.

Duties

You will serve as the subject matter expert ensuring the regulations, policies, and procedures governing accountability of garrison property assets and management of the property control program. You will manage the availability of garrison property assets required for mission accomplishment, to position and/or reposition assess, and/or to dispose of excess or obsolete. You will prepare documentation required to initiate investigation of lost, missing, or stolen items. You will recommend program improvements and implement approved changes developing plan of actions approved by higher level authorities and/or implement new initiatives. You will communicate orally and in writing to recommend garrison property program changes, to prepare materials for and conduct trainings, to present ideas in meetings, and make formal presentations. You will plan and carry out work assignments, resolve conflicts, integrate work of others, and interpret internal policies. You will be required to be organized, and have experience doing data collection and familiar with the Defense Property Accounting System (DPAS) to make the minimum requirements. You will show problem solving, inventory management, defense property accounting services, and Defense Acquisition Initiatives using DoD personal systems (e.g. Defense Civilian Personnel Data System, and Enterprise Task Management System2).

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
  • You may be required to wear protective clothing such as hard hats, steel toed shoes, rubber aprons and any other personal protective equipment.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Perform a combination of inventory management and property accountability by conducting physical inventories regularly; generate reports identifying any potential discrepancies to recommend appropriate action for resolution; analyze audits findings and determine local procedural changes; and assist with the annual budget by developing a spending plan formulating financial and purchase card approval. Education

In lieu of specialized experience listed in the Qualifications section, applicants may qualify based on education OR equivalent combination of experience and education as follows:
  • I have successfully completed one full year of graduate level education or
  • I have successfully completed a bachelor's degree with superior academic achievement or
  • I have a combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience. My percentage of the required education plus my percentage of the required experience equal one hundred percent.
