You will serve as a AIRCRAFT LAUNCH AND RECOVERY EQUIPMENT MECHANIC in the N3 OPERATIONS DIRECTORATE, N32 AIR OPERATIONS DEPARTMENT of NAVAL AIR STATION.
Duties
You will read and understand work orders and instructions to complete assigned work in accordance with established procedures or sequence of
operations.
You will develop material requirement estimates and labor hours for the manufacture, assembly, disassembly, overhaul, repair, installation, and test of aircraft launch and recovery equipment (ALRE) systems and components.
You will isolate faults on the subassembly of aircraft launch and recovery equipment (ALRE) components and support equipment (SE).
You will complete work involving several familiar processes which require remembering directions or work sequences.

1) Assisting in the daily inspection, operational tests, and repairs to arresting gear, cables, and optical landing systems; 2) Compiling a list of required parts, supplies, and components to submit for approval; 3) Identifying repair needs for emergency arresting gear and optical landing systems; 4) Submitting aircraft launching and arrestment device-related files, reports, and logs to supervisor for inspection and approval. PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The work is performed inside and outside under all weather conditions and requires handling weights of 100 pounds or less. Work requires good hand-eye coordination, prolonged standing, repeated bending and/or kneeling (up to 3 hours per day), and the ability for rapid mental and muscular coordination simultaneously.
WORK CONDITIONS:
This position will be a 40-hour week basis, day or night shifts, some overtime mandatory, and will work at assigned locations. Worker is exposed to such dangers as traffic hazards, falling objects, and ground movement of aircraft, and arrestments by aircraft on E-28 gear. These exposures are constant. Possible resulting injuries include; cuts, bruises, mashed toes or fingers, broken limbs, etc. Approximately 85% of the work is outdoors. Outdoor work may have to be performed in severe weather. Exposure to these conditions is for relatively short periods. Incumbent will be required to wear applicable safety items provided by the government with particular emphasis to eye, ear, and foot injuries. Work will be performed in a noise hazard environment.
