About the Position: Performs the following clerical duties requested or directed by staff members that may include contacts that require attention or action, arranges for equipment, prepares estimate to be used in projected operating budget for supplies, equipment, etc., obtains and handles mail in a timely manner, tracks training, and prepares travel vouchers. Types a variety of correspondence, reports, etc., using automated equipment and a variety of software programs.
Duties
Prepares travel orders and travel vouchers for all supported employees; prepares advances when necessary; makes arrangements for government usage, and initiates all airplane, hotel and rental car reservations.
Incumbent performs timekeeping and related duties, using an automated reporting system which is linked to a computerized financial management system.
Receives visitors and phone calls, personally provides information requested or directs to staff members those contacts that require attention or action.
Maintains files in accordance with established guidelines, purging and retiring files as prescribed by regulation.
Orders and maintains a perpetual inventory of office supplies and arranges for equipment, telephone and furniture repair and or moves.
Incumbent will maintain a record of supported employee training requirements and aid in scheduling training.

GS-05 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes office support services to include using computer programs to store and retrieve data; preparing correspondence; and maintaining files. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04).
OR
Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages.
GS-06 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience performing administrative functions of an office, to include timekeeping or travel arrangements; AND completing/editing reports or correspondence using automated software. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job at the GS-06 level, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
GS-07 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes timekeeping; providing budgetary support; and preparing and reviewing correspondence in accordance with policies and regulations. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job at the GS-07 level, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
Proficiency Required:This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors.
