Duties
You will be responsible for troubleshooting, diagnosing, and resolving hardware, software, and other network and system problems; and, conferring with network users about solving existing system problems.
You will install and maintains network infrastructure device operating system software (e.g., IOS, firmware).
You will patch network vulnerabilities to ensure information is safeguarded against outside parties
You will verify minimum security requirements are in place for all applications.
Requirements

- A Counterintelligence Polygraph is required, and a non-disclosure agreement must be signed.
- Employee must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and subsequent periodic drug screening thereafter.
- The incumbent may be required to perform occasional travel (25% or less) which may involve the use of commercial and/or government aircraft.
- This position is not telework eligible.

- This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
- This is a Cyberspace Workforce position, work role code (461,441), proficiency level (Basic) the incumbent is required to obtain and maintain qualifications in DoDM 8140.03 Cyber Workforce Qualification and Department of Navy policies.
Qualifications
You are required to have information technology (IT) related experience in the federal service or private or public sector demonstrating the following four competencies, as defined:
1. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. IT related experience demonstrating this competency include monitoring and analyzing IT systems security integration, testing, operation, and maintenance.
2. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. IT related experience demonstrating this competency include providing network services that support business requirements.
3. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, and responds appropriately. IT related experience demonstrating this competency include providing feedback on network requirements, including network architecture and infrastructure.
4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. IT related experience demonstrating this competency include developing and implementing configuration management plans for complex wide area networks.
In addition to your experience demonstrating the four competencies above, you are required to have directly applicable experience that demonstrates the possession of knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Qualifying experience may have been acquired in any public or private sector job, but will clearly demonstrate past experience in the application of the particular competencies or knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to successfully perform the duties of the position. Such experience is typically in or directly relates to the work of the position to be filled. Qualifying experience would be demonstrated by: Installing, configuring, testing, operating, maintaining, and managing networks and their firewalls to support the security of information and information systems.

Education
At a minimum, all CES employees in the Professional Work Category require a bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
