About the Position: This position is located in the Department of Family Medicine at Army Health Clinic Moncrief - This is a Direct Hire Solicitation. - Salary negotiation may be available for those candidates who are new to Federal service.

Duties

Determines primary care needs of patients and generates referrals to for specialty care when necessary. Secures a health and medical history from the patient, records findings and make clinical evaluation Examines patients and performs initial patient work-up and assessment of patients' care and treatment; and determines the need for and orders laboratory tests, x-rays and other procedures necessary to complete assessment of the patient Determines appropriate diagnosis based on history, physical exams, and appropriate laboratory and ancillary studies, as needed Documents patient’s electronic health record utilizing the approved computer system including: progress notes, treatments rendered, tests or procedures ordered, and notations of prescription orders in accordance with approved protocols Manages the treatment of patients through use of various therapeutic modalities Consults and collaborates with health care team members and physicians and identifies situations which require immediate attention

Requirements

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Red Cross. Advanced certification (e.g., ALS) does not supersede BLS
• This position is a Testing Designated Position subject to pre-employment screening and random drug testing. Selectees will be required to consent to participation in random drug urinalysis testing
• Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption
• A pre-placement medical examination is required
• Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position
• Applicants must be able to fulfill credentialing requirements and obtain and maintain appropriate/relevant clinical privileges
• A Personnel Security Investigation is required.

Basic Requirement for Advance Practice Nurse: Degree: A graduate or higher-level degree from an accredited professional nursing educational program in (Practitioner-Occupational Health) is required. This education must have been accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs, Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) Foreign Degree: A degree from a Foreign Nursing School. Official certification from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools is required for individuals who graduated from foreign nursing schools. Licensure: A current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States; and you must have passed the National Council Licensure Examination Advanced Practice Nurse Licensure: A current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse in the specialty of Occupational Health or related specialty from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States Exemption: You are exempt from the basic requirements above if you are a current federal employee occupying a position in the 0610 occupational series and have been continuously employed in this occupational series since September 27, 2017 or before. Applicants claiming this exemption must meet the requirement below. Note: You will be required to provide appropriate documentation to the respective Human Resources Office to validate your status. Degree or diploma from a professional nursing program approved by the legally designated State accrediting agency at the time the program was completed by the applicant. Active, current registration as a professional nurse in a State, District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Professional Nursing Experience: One or more full years of professional nursing experience which includes ordering and interpreting laboratory and diagnostic tests, providing medical assessment, and treating injures or illnesses. This definition of professional nursing experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
