THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.
This National Guard position is for a POLICE OFFICER, Position Description Number D2155000 and is part of the 109TH AW, National Guard.
This position is indefinite without the potential to convert to permanent. Employees hired under indefinite appointments may not exceed 5 years (consecutive) time with the agency.
Duties
As a Police Officer, GS-0083-06, you will protect Federal property from hazards such as sabotage, espionage, trespass, theft, fire, and accident or willful damage and destruction. To maintain law and order, preserve the peace, and protect life and civil rights within the jurisdiction of the military installation.
Requirements

- This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.
- Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.
- Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.
- Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.
- Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
- Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
- May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
- Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance of the position within 1-year of appointment.
- May need to wear special protective clothing such as coats, boots, vests, gas masks, helmets and hearing protection. May be exposed to high levels of noise such as aircraft engines.
- The employee may need to travel in military and/or commercial aircraft to perform temporary duty assignments.
- The work may require the employee to drive a motor vehicle. An appropriate, valid driver’s license may be required for the position.
- Incumbent must know how to operate all Security Forces Vehicles and installed equipment.
- Incumbent must maintain current qualifications in the use of required weapons.
- Compensatory time is allowed when required to conduct unscheduled work.
- Incumbent is exposed to the day-to-day dangers associated with law enforcement and security duties.
- Incumbent is required to obtain first responder training/certifications in CPR techniques, self-aid buddy care, and first-aid skills and complete annual recertifications.
Qualifications
Military Grades: Enlisted
GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience including administrative, clerical, technical, or military work that involved protecting property, equipment, data, or materials; or that involved making judgments based on the application of directions, rules, regulations, or laws.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: 1-year equivalent to at least the next lower grade. Must have experience that provides knowledge of a body of basic laws and regulations, law enforcement operations, practices, and techniques and involved responsibility for maintaining order and protecting life and property. Creditable specialized experience may have been gained in work on a police force; through service as a military police officer; in work providing visitor protection and law enforcement in parks, forests, or other natural resource or recreational environments; in performing criminal investigative duties; or in other work that provided the required knowledge and skills.
