The position entails planning, coordinating, implementing, and controlling the overall activities related to workforce and personnel management, contracting, human resources activities, training, action items and congressional letters, patient inquires, coordinating scheduling, quality monitoring and compliance with applicable regulation or policy at the Miami VA Medical Center under Medical Service and Cardiology.
Duties
Major duties include but are not limited to:
Direct personnel management for cardiology, perform or oversee the full range of human resources requirements.
Act as a liaison with the human resources office, concerning personnel matters.
Provide advice and assistance concerning federal and agency personnel processes and procedures.
Assist the the chief of cardiology and the Cath lab nurse supervisor with on-call scheduling and entering on-call data, creating on-call reports, and ensuring that the on-call schedule is always up to date and accessible to all providers within the facility.
Provide administrative support to the cardiology section chief in development, revision, implementation, and evaluation of the cardiology section and Medical Center policy procedures.
Provide administrative assistance toward meeting federal regulations and accreditation standards i.e. JCAHO.
Assist clinical staff to problem solve barriers to goal achievement and to access resources.
Assist the staff cardiologist and physician extenders with coordinating patient care with other services.
Coordinate with purchasing to obtain catalogues/brochures, prepare justification for equipment purchases or transfer.
Handle conflict and problems in dealing with the customer constructively and appropriately
Work Schedule: 8:00 a.m-4:30 p.m. M-F

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 01/23/2025.
This position requires a typing requirement of 40 words per minute.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-07 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-06. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment.
You may qualify based on your experience as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-06 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: project staffing needs; review, analyze, and interpret incoming requests; coordinate leave and verify time and attendance; initiate and track work orders and follow them until completion; interpret standards, develop policy and procedure, implement monitoring techniques, and provide analysis and trending outcome of data; answer telephone calls, screen and assist the caller; prepare procurement requests; evaluate proposal for work; use Microsoft office suite; communicate and treat customers in a courteous, tactful and respectful manner.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment.
Physical Requirements: The work is primarily sedentary, although some light physical effort may be required. There may be some walking, standing, bending, carrying of light items, etc.
