About the position: This position will be assigned to Lodging on Dobbins Air Reserve Base, Georgia. The position is a flexible position, which means you are not guaranteed hours or benefits but could work anywhere between 0 and 40 hours per week. Flex employees will be eligible for the use of the fitness center, lodging, and other activities. Position requires working irregular schedules, to include weekends, holidays, and all shifts.

Duties

Loads and unloads heavy boxes, bulky supplies, and materials to and from tracks, dollies, etc, moves heavy boxes, cartons, or luggage by hand, handtruck, or dolly; opens crates and boxes using crowbars, and cuts bands using shears; stacks boxes and cartons where directed. Using a shovel, digs ditches and trenches where a pick is not needed to loosen the dirt, and where grading and sloping is not required; fills holes with dirt and levels bumps and low places, using shovel, hand tamper, and rake. Runs hand lawnmowers or (domestic type) powered lawnmowers, when this does not require heavy physical effort (for example, on steep grades); clears small trees and bushes, using handsaw, hatchet, or clipper. Moves and arranges furniture as directed; shovels snow from sidewalks; washes and waxes cars and trucks by hand or power buffer. Performs other related duties as assigned. Requirements

• This position requires the incumbent to complete a background investigation with favorable results.
• Must be able to complete a pre-employment physical.
• This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.
• Must possess a valid state driver's license; the ability to operate a motor vehicle in a safe manner.
• This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to random testing for drug use.

Qualifying Experience: This is an entry level position, and no prior experience or training is required. Ability to use, control, and clean common handtools, and simple power equipment. Ability to follow oral and/or written instructions involving duties with several distinct tasks or steps. Must be physically able to frequently lift and carry medium to heavy objects up to 40 pounds, and be able to occasionally lift and carry objects up to 50 pounds. Must be able to actively bend, stoop, stand, reach, and work in awkward positions.

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution.
