This position is located in the Fitness Division, Aquatics Branch of the Morale, Welfare and Recreation Department, at Naval Air Station Jacksonville, Florida. The primary purpose of this position is to perform lifeguard duties which involve the safeguarding of the lives of patrons of the indoor or outdoor pool located at NAS Jacksonville.

Duties

Works under direct supervision of the Aquatics Coordinator. Incumbent uses initiative in completing daily/routine assignments and receives general guidance from Lead Lifeguard or Aquatics Coordinator. Work is reviewed in terms of results achieved and through occasional quality checks and inspections. Work consists of continually evaluating the overall safety and effectiveness of the operation, ensuring the safety of all patrons at all times. The incumbent may be responsible for a number of patrons or groups of patrons simultaneously, and must constantly assess possible risk situations, ensure the area is free of preventable hazards, and differentiate between patrons loud and physical play versus a call for assistance. Work involves performance of specific routine operations that include few tasks or procedures, but can have a significant impact on the well-being of patrons and staff. Duties performed contribute directly to the military community's readiness, physical fitness, morale, and quality of life. The incumbent promotes physical fitness and healthful living, which will have a positive influence in improving the morale, physical and mental well - being of all customers.

Requirements

• Must meet Federal Employment suitability requirements and successful completion of background investigation. Background investigations are conducted using fingerprint identification and completion of background inquiry forms.
• Must successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check. Any discrepancies must be resolved as a condition of employment.
• You must go through a Personal Identity Verification (PIV) process that requires two forms of identification from the Form I-9.
• May be required to pass pre-employment examinations.
• Must provide proof of U.S. Citizenship or U.S. National.
• A valid State driver's license is required to operate motor vehicles.

• Incumbent must reside within 50 miles of the hiring installation (NAS Jacksonville).
• Requirement of at least (6) months of certified lifeguard experience.
