About the Position: This position is a DOD Cyber Excepted Service (CES) personnel system position in the Excepted Service under 10 USC 1599f. Employees occupying CES positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25.
You may need to complete a 3 year probationary period, if applicable.
This position is with 7th Signal Command, 21st Signal Brigade, 302nd Signal Battalion, located at Fort Belvoir, Virginia
Duties
Serve as the Company Communications Watch Officer, representing the Commander, for the total continuity of communications services and operational capabilities involving communications, facilities and personnel.
Responsible for the overall operations of the shift within the Technical Control and Satellite Facilities.
Direct the operation of cryptographic equipment and the destruction of key material.
Provide on-the-job training and technical assistance to all newly assigned personnel.
Accountable for understanding, producing, and delivering finished products, demonstrating step-by-step requirements to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve issues.
Coordinate the engineering and activation of circuits/systems/networks and equipment in support of daily operations, emergency real-world operations and exercises to test communications and procedures.
Direct and advise shift personnel on analyzing, isolating, and identifying problems in various types of interactive communication transmission media.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Three year trial/probationary period may be required.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Top Secret security clearance with Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) access for the duration of employment.
- This position is designated as Key. The position cannot be vacated during a national emergency or mobilization without seriously impairing the mission.
- This position requires irregular hours on rotating shifts.
- Overtime may be required on short notice to include nights, holidays and weekends in support of related mission requirements.
