This vacancy is for a GS - 2210 - 13/14, IT Cybersecurity Specialist located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, SFLC BOD INFORMATION SERVICES BR. Duties

You will serve as a/an IT Cybersecurity Specialist and be responsible for ensuring the confidentiality, integrity and availability of systems and data through planning, analysis, development, implementation, maintenance and enhancements of information systems security programs, policies, procedures, and tools. This position will serve as a team member supporting Operational Technology (OT) across the Coast Guard Surface Domain consisting of approximately 240 cutters and over 1,800 boats as well the SFLC and Coast Guard Yard Shore Side IT Products, Services, and Information Systems (IS).

Basic Requirements: Experience must be IT related; the experience may be demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training (for example, IT certification), as appropriate. For all positions individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below. The employing agency is responsible for identifying the specific level of proficiency required for each competency at each grade level based on the requirements of the position being filled. AND SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: To qualify at the GS-13 grade level, applicants must have at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 grade level in the federal sector. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. Examples include Integrating information systems security with other security disciplines; certifying systems or network accreditation; ensuring coordination and or collaboration on security activities; and ensuring proper protection of evidence used in investigating computer crimes. OR SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: To qualify at the GS-14 grade level, applicants must have at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-13 grade level in the federal sector. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. Examples of specialized experience include the following: developing and integrating software services; providing technical resolutions for problems with existing software and systems management; testing, analyzing, evaluating, validates and implementing new technologies; performing some acquisitions duties for IT products. Specialized experience must include all of the following: Knowledge of Risk Management Framework (RMF) requirements Knowledge of Authorization and Assessment process and requirements Ability to apply techniques for detecting host and network-based intrusions using intrusion detection technologies Ability to identify critical infrastructure systems with information communication technology that were designed without system security considerations Specialized experience must include the following: Knowledge of network security architecture concepts including topology, protocols, components, and principles (e.g., application of defense-in-depth) Knowledge of system administration, network, and operating system hardening techniques Ability to develop project plans, schedules & technical installation/implementation plans to procure, configure, deploy, and maintain OT and IT Products and Systems. Ability to plan, design, and monitor projects to develop, deploy, support and secure OT and IT Systems. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. NOTE: Education cannot be substituted for experience at this grade level.
