Positions to be filled are located at Florissant Fossil Beds NM in Florissant, CO (1), Capulin Volcano NM in Capulin, NM (1), Dinosaur NM in Dinosaur, CO (1) and Zion National Park in Springdale, UT (3). Performs routine work in the maintenance and repair of grounds, exterior structures, buildings and related utilities, requiring the use of a variety of trade practices associated with occupations such as carpentry, masonry, plumbing, electrical, cement work, painting, and other related trades.

Duties

Duties - These positions provide routine maintenance on park facilities including minor carpentry, painting, plumbing and electrical work. Assists higher graded maintenance employees in the performance of maintenance tasks. Safety and effectively uses hand and power tools required for the job and has the ability to maintain these tools properly. Park Information: Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument - Florissant, Colorado is situated in the Rocky Mountains in western Teller County and the park is at 8,500 feet of elevation. The small community offers excellent recreation opportunities and is only 16 miles from the city of Woodland Park and 38 miles from Colorado Springs. The climate is pleasant featuring warm summers with cool evenings and higher altitude winters with 10-14 inches of average snow accumulation. Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument was established in 1969 and set aside to protect one of the richest fossil deposits in the world. The park also protects massive petrified redwood tree stumps. The park landscape features mountain meadows and rolling hills forested with ponderosa pine, spruce, fir, and aspen. Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument (U.S. National Park Service) Zion National Park - Zion National Park is located in southwestern Utah. The climate is generally hot with daytime high temperatures ranging from 95 to 110 degrees in the summer, and 55 to 10 degrees in the winter. Nighttime lows range from 65 degrees in the summer to 10 degrees in the winter. Minimal shopping is available in Springdale, Utah, located two (2) miles from Park Headquarters. A full range of shopping, medical, dental, religious, and recreational facilities are available in Hurricane (25 miles), St. George, (45 miles), and in Cedar City, (63 miles), Utah. Elementary school (grades K-5) is available in Springdale, with bus service provided. Junior high and high school is available in Hurricane, with bus service provided. Utah Tech University is located in St. George, and Southern Utah University is located in Cedar City. **Due to the desirable nature of the area surrounding Zion National Park, please be sure to research and understand the limited housing options and the area's cost-of-living.**
