About the Position: This position(s) is located within the US Army Corps of Engineers, Huntington District, where you will serve in office engineering and quality assurance sections, reviewing various civil and/or military construction projects. Duty locations to be selected are Huntington, WV and Portsmouth, OH.

Duties

Prepares the official government estimates for contract change orders. Confers with contractors/ representatives on matters pertaining to various issues. Research problems brought to the attention of the Resident Engineer and drafts response. Participates in construction reviews to determine suitability from construction standpoint of proposed contracts. Responsible for checking and verifying quantity computations submitted by contractors for payment requests. Participates in receipt, review, and storage of samples of construction materials submitted by contractors in compliance with requirements within the contracts. Performs quality assurance inspections of contractors construction operations to assure compliance with contract plans and specifications.

For GS-09: One year of specialized experience includes experience carrying out standard construction procedures based on assignments; assisting senior technicians with contract modifications and construction progress reports and other construction engineering considerations. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08). For GS-10: One year of specialized experience includes experience performing limited construction projects involving specialized or complicated procedures; supporting preparation of construction progress reports; using automated construction databases to extract data and prepare reports. For GS-11: One year of specialized experience includes experience advising on and resolving construction project discrepancies; analyzing and interpreting construction plans and specifications to perform quality assurance inspections of construction operations; negotiating contract modifications.
