The Department of Energy (DOE) is the Nation's solutions agency, engaged in a wide range of challenging and innovative work, including tackling the climate crisis, ensuring national security, and advancing basic research. Applications will be used to fill positions by the hiring officials at DOE Human Capital Shared Service Center (Headquarters and their associated field offices), this is not a government wide resume repository.
Requirements
- You must be a U.S. Citizen or National.

- Positions are located in Human Capital Shared Service Center (Headquarters and their associated field offices) and may be filled as permanent, term, or temporary with a full-time or part-time work schedule. Pay will vary by geographic location.
- The vacancies filled through these appointments have varying levels of background investigative requirements, up to a Top Secret - DOE "Q" clearance.
- Positions may be covered by a bargaining unit. Bargaining unit will vary by departmental element, grade, and/or location.

- Positions may require submittal of a Financial Disclosure Statement, OGE-450, Executive Branch Personnel Confidential Financial Disclosure Report within 30 days of entering the position and annually.
- Positions may be a Testing Designated Position (TDP) subject to applicant testing and random drug testing thereafter. Failure to test or a positive result on random drug tests conducted after appointment may result in removal from Federal employment.
- Positions may be included in the DOE’s Technical Qualifications Program (TQP). Selectees for included positions are required to complete the TQP requirements within 18 months of entering the program or 12 months if previously qualified.
Qualifications
In order to qualify, applicants must be eligible for appointment under the 30% or more disabled veterans hiring authority.The 30% or More Disabled Veteran authority allows an agency to non-competitively appoint any veteran with a 30% or more service-connected disability.
You are eligible if you:
retired from active military service with a service-connected disability rating of 30% or more, OR
have a rating by the Department of Veterans Affairs showing a compensable service-connected disability of 30% or more.
This authority can be used to make temporary (at least 60 days but not to exceed 1 year) or term (more than 1 year, but not more than 4) appointments in the competitive service. There is no grade level restriction. There is no requirement that you be converted to a permanent position, but an agency has the authority to convert such a position to a permanent position if it chooses to do so.
The agency would first place you on a time limited appointment of at least 60 days and could then convert that appointment to a permanent appointment at management's discretion. When the authority is used to meet a time-limited need, however, you will not be converted to a permanent appointment.
