Joining the Secret Service, Office of Strategic Intelligence and Information , Protective Intelligence and Assessment Division will allow you to play an integral role with a full range of security administration for the development, coordination, implementation and oversight of security policies, programs and standards to protect and safeguard the Secret Service personnel, property, facilities and information. Duties

The selectee will serve as a Security Specialist in the Office of Strategic Intelligence and Information, Protective Intelligence and Assessment Division (PID). Typical work assignments include: Responds to inquiries from other offices regarding classified material; coordinates with Office of the Chief Information Office (CIO) and the Office of Security (OSC) to compile annual reports on classified material to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and responds to the DHS regarding security reviews/inspections which are coordinated with OSC to be reported to DHS. Ensures that PID is in compliance with Sensitive Compartmental Information Facility (SCIF) certification requirements as well as conducting briefings and answering questions on the Division's policies and procedures. Understands the complexity of the Intelligence Community Directive and Intelligence Community Standard (ICD/ICS) for construction of new facilities and maintaining standards of existing accredited facilities. Implements, and monitors policies, instructions, procedures, and classification authorities and guides, document marking, safeguarding; physical storage and control; security education, and transmitting, transferring, reproducing, downgrading, and destroying information. Coordinates with CIO, develops security policies and user agreements for classified access requests. Establishes Public Key Infrastructure Certificates for all C-LAN users, requests access for appropriate users to Secure Communities of Interest (COl), National Counter Terrorism Center (NCTC) JTF-CT (DIA). CIA Source, and CIA's External Name Trace System (CENT). Manages user accounts for all USSS users, changes/resets password, grants/restricts permissions, sets up printers. Provides technical support to classified video teleconferences. Attends program management meetings on classified system accreditation and provides input and recommendations ensure compliance to applicable guidelines. Oversees PID's classified database to track classified information, provides guidance on the distribution and dissemination of classified messages. Attends meetings/briefings regarding security issues, to include attending interagency meetings with management as an advisor, representing the PID at USSS meetings regarding security, and attending meetings regarding classified computer systems. Qualifications

To be considered qualified for this position you must meet the following qualification requirements for the respective grade level in which you are applying. You qualify for the GS-13 level (starting salary $120,579.00) if you possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level performing duties such as: Implementing and monitoring policies, instructions, procedures and classification authorities and guides, document marking, safeguarding; physical storage and control, security education and transmitting, transferring, reproducing, downgrading and destroying information; Providing oversight or maintaining classified databases to track classified information, providing guidance on the distribution and dissemination of classified messages; responding to inquiries regarding classified material; Ensuring that an office or division is in compliance with SCIF certification requirements as well as conducting briefings and answering questions; Attending meetings/briefings regarding security issues, to include interagency meetings as an advisor regarding security and classified systems; Developing security policies and user agreements for classified access requests; establishing infrastructure certificates; managing user accounts, changing/resetting passwords and grants/restricts permissions; Providing technical support to classified video teleconferences. Time-in-Grade Requirements: Under competitive merit promotion procedures, any individual who is currently holding, or who has held within the previous 52 weeks, a General Schedule position under a non-temporary appointment in the competitive or excepted service, must meet "time-in-grade" requirements (have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade of the grade for which you are applying). Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to current competitive service employees applying for a Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment. NOTE: All current or former Federal employees must provide a copy of their SF-50, "Notice of Personnel Action" that indicates proof of status and time-in-grade eligibility. The SF-50 must include your position, title, series, grade, step, tenure (1 or 2), and type of service (Competitive or Excepted). You may need to submit more than one SF-50 to comply. The qualification requirements listed above must be met by the closing date of this announcement. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees. If you are currently, or have been within the last 5 years, a political Schedule A, Schedule C, Non-career SES or Presidential Appointee employee in the Executive Branch, you must disclose this information to the Human Resources Office.
