About the Position: Serves as a Human Resource Assistant (Mil) in the Military Personnel Division and advises on various military administrative and personnel management matters.

Duties

As a Human Resource Assistant (Military), you will perform the following duties. Analyze facts to interpret data to recommend the appropriate corrective action. Maintain, process and update military personnel records. Analyze data for accuracy and corrects errors. Utilize office automation tools such as Microsoft office programs for record keeping. Ensure all essential personnel data is recorded and submitted properly in a timely basis. Operate a variety of electronic systems for the organization. Advise management of various levels on administrative matters. Answer routine telephone and written communication inquiries. Communicate with military personnel, military dependents, and civilian employees to determine military action requirements.

  • Temporary duty travel (5% or less) away from the normal duty station may be required.

OR Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages. Specialized experience to qualify at the GS-06 grade level: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Assisting with processing personnel actions and 2) Assisting with the preparation of documents such as correspondence, letters or statistical reports and 3) Reviewing human resources records for accuracy. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Specialized experience to qualify at the GS-07 grade level: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Processing personnel actions and 2) Utilizing automated Human Resources systems such as Interactive Personnel Electronics Records Management System (IPERMS) and Integrated Personnel and Pay System-Army (IPP-A) and 3) Ensuring military human resource records are updated and accurate. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. For GS-07 - Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06).

Education
