This position is located in the Labor and Employment Field Unit, Kansas City, MO, and provides counsel in labor relations, employee relations, and federal sector personnel and employment law.

Duties
Provides advice and guidance in matters involving federal laws, regulations and agency policies governing employment, equal opportunity, conduct, performance and other personnel issues.
Represents the Corporation in administrative and federal court proceedings on labor, employment, civil rights, and other personnel issues.
Provides day to day legal advice and counsel on issues involving federal labor laws, negotiations, labor grievances and arbitration, and other labor relations matters.
Qualifications
Qualifying experience may be obtained in the private or public sector. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic, religious/spiritual; community; student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Specialized experience must be directly related to the position being filled and is experience gained after issuance of bar membership.
This position has a positive education requirement, transcripts must be provided showing degree conferred. Official transcripts must be provided prior to appointment.
Education: All attorney and law clerk trainee positions have a minimum education requirement of a Juris Doctorate (J.D.) or Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) or Master of Laws (LL.M.) from a school accredited by the American Bar Association (ABA).
Bar Membership: All attorney positions require current active bar membership (valid license to practice law). Admission to the bar of any state, District of Columbia, any United States territory or Commonwealth, or Federal Court is acceptable. Active Bar membership must be verified prior to appointment. Employees must maintain active bar membership while employed as an attorney with the FDIC.
Specialized Experience: To qualify, applicants must have completed at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the 14 grade level or above in the Federal service. For this position, specialized experience is experience in the practice of law in the area of labor relations, employee relations, personnel and employment law, including providing advice and counsel to senior management officials on cases in the labor-management, equal employment opportunity (EEO) and employee relations areas and defending management decisions in administrative litigation.
