The Engineering and Architecture Student Trainee is responsible for assisting in architecture and engineering occupations and providing support work as it relates to management, program and administrative analysis, and process evaluation.

Duties

The Engineering and Architecture Student Trainee is responsible for assisting in architecture and engineering occupations and providing support work as it relates to management, program and administrative analysis, and process evaluation. The student trainee performs a mixture of routine and somewhat complex tasks under the general direction of a manager, project/program manager, team leader, or other more experienced employee. The work activities typically support the work of other employees and contribute to the activities of the organizational unit. The student works with teams working on mission-related projects. Engages in meaningful learning and development activities while applying basic knowledge and limited experience in performing tasks. Assists manager and other employees in day-to-day operations.

Qualifications

FV-C: To qualify for the FV-C, you must be currently enrolled full time or at least half time in an accredited educational institution (college, university, vocational school, trade school, etc.) and show completion of 1 full academic year of post-high school study. Full or half time enrollment is defined by your educational institution.BASIC REQUIREMENTS:Degree Requirement: course of study leading to a Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering. Transcripts must be submitted with your application, or you will not be considered for this position. This occupation has specific educational requirements for entry and applicants must show evidence that their planned academic program will meet those requirements (i.e. transcript reflecting enrollment in applicable programs). Students who graduate without meeting those requirements may not be converted to the target position and could be separated from federal service. Educational requirements for conversion to the target position are: Degree in Professional Engineering. To be acceptable, the curriculum must: (1) be in a school of engineering with at least 1 curriculum accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) as a professional engineering curriculum; or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than 1st year physics & chemistry) in 5 of these 7 areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials; (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials; and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics.Qualifications must be met by the closing date of the announcement.Please ensure you answer all questions and follow all instructions carefully.
