This job opening is in the Office of Security in the Domestic Security Branch at the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID).
The Office of Security's role is to support USAID and those resources. It does so in accordance with a number of laws, Presidential orders, Executive Branch-issued guidance as well as policy established by the Department of State.
Duties
Observes and assists with the application of new theories and developments to physical security problems not susceptible to treatment by accepted security methods, technology, or procedures.
Assists with development and coordination of security policies for programs requiring the application of new theories and developments to physical security problems concerning the protection of facilities, personnel, emergency communications, etc.
Assists with the processing and approval of ID card requests and issues ID cards.
Assists with the formulation and preparation of Agency-wide policy in the form of directives and manuals concerning physical security programs.
Assists with physical security standards applied at all agency sensitive facilities are both adequate and in conformance with the national-level policy/standards which apply.
Assists with evaluations concerning overall plans and proposals for major agency and interagency security projects.
Requirements
- United States Citizenship is required.
- Relevant experience (see Qualifications below).
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI security clearance.
- Males born after 12/31/1959 must be registered with the Selective Service.
- You may be required to serve a two-year probationary period if selected.

Qualifications
Specialized Experience:
GS-11: You need at least one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-09 level in the Federal service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. Qualifying specialized experience at the next lower level for this position include:
Assisting with the preparation of security plans to mitigate threats
Observing facility access processes to include issuing and updating badge access
Observing protective methods through the use of security equipment. OR
Observing physical security training.
OR
EDUCATION: Successfully completed at least three (3) years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or equivalent doctoral degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.
OR
COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: a combination of specialized experience and education as described above. Therefore, I have a combination of experience and education to meet the qualifications of the position. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts with your application.

Volunteer work provides training and experience that can translate directly to paid employment. Qualifying experience, including volunteer experience, that aligns with the duties of this position will be considered.
