This position is located in the Accounting Section of the VA Medical Center in Bay Pines, FL.
Duties

Examines, classifies, and verifies invoices/vouchers for validity;
Researches, interprets, and verifies with authorizing payment document will be affected;
Conducts analyses for accuracy, mathematical error, and adequacy of invoice/voucher based on compliance and regulations and standard operating procedures;
Follows up on all outstanding aged invoices that appear on the pending invoice listing;
Ensures certification and review is completed by the Contracting Officer Representative;
Ensures timely processing of payments;
Reviews numerous different unrelated systems to ensure the invoice/voucher has not already been processed for payment;
Maintains, analyzes, and completes daily reports to prepare accurate and timely payments, certification reviews, funding, and any other issues that prevent payment errors;
Determines the nature of errors and acts to ensure they are corrected;
Reviews vendor, government, and third party checks received or cancelled;
Determines the origin of returned/cancelled checks and the reason;
Re-issues payment or deposits cancelled checks to the appropriate fund;
Makes payment of all vouchers for which cash payment is authorized and cashes negotiable instruments for hospitalized beneficiaries;
Collects all payments for the medical center including travel vouchers, co-payments, and deposits to patient funds;
Makes cash payments for mileage allowance to beneficiaries and any other authorized expenditure;
Issues third party drafts in lieu of cash when feasible;
Maintains inventory of third party drafts and records of drafts issued to employees authorized to make cash purchases;
Analyzes transactions and relates the to the proper appropriation or fund;
Handles collections from various sources and determines that they are genuine and negotiable;
Replenishes funds using electronic funds transfer procedures;
Determines/coordinates cash deliveries to ensure availability of cash for daily operations;
Trains alternate cashiers in the efficient operation of all duties;
Performs related duties as required.
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm.

Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS GS-06: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of this position, and that is typically in or related to the position. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-05 grade level in Federal service. Specialized experience includes: reviewing and examining vouchers/invoices to determine validity; providing efficient and effective customer service; and handling conflict and problems by dealing with customers constructively and appropriately. This experience must be detailed in your resume to receive credit.

IMPORTANT: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. All experience listed on your resume must include the month and year start/end dates.
