This position is assigned to the Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) Marina; NAS Jacksonville. The purpose of this position is to perform a variety of recreational, clerical, and administrative duties in support of the MWR Marina program. The primary duties will be performed outside.
Duties
Performs a variety of duties in support of successful daily operations of the marina, such as customer check-in/out; assisting with special events; coordinating boat rentals; coordinating slip and dry storage rentals; dock accommodations, maintenance, and housekeeping; and safety, in accordance with the State Clean Marina Initiative Program and applicable marina program policies.
Coordinates boat rentals, schedules, and haul out/launching of boats. Ensures all rental forms are properly completed and check in/out procedures are followed. Rigs boats, ensuring they are properly fueled and cleaned each morning and secured at the end of the day.
Coordinates slip and dry storage rentals. Assigns slips, maintains and logs information, and ensures area is properly cleaned each morning and secured at the end of the day.
Provides customer service, information, and support in the daily operations of marina programs, activities, and events, such as greeting customers; checking patron eligibility; and providing information and resources.
Performs minor maintenance which may include but is not limited to changing batteries; scraping and cleaning boat bottoms; painting/varnishing boats; repairing piers; and decking/replacing floats. May be required to tow boats using a motor vehicle.
Inspects the marina daily to ensure that the area is clean and free from debris and other hazards.
Performs basic cleaning duties to maintain a constant and clean working area. Sweeps, dry mops floors/docks; washes walls, windows, blinds and other surfaces and replaces light bulbs as needed. Ensures all current sanitation requirements are followed and maintained.
Performs inventory of various types of equipment, retail goods, supplies and/or items deemed to have cash value. Ensures adherence to loss prevention for program resources, cash or pilfer-able items. Notifies supervisor if damage or loss has occurred.
Collects fees from customers associated with sales, rentals, or other various items using Point of Sales (POS) and/or computer programs. Maintains effective controls for receipt and safekeeping of all cash associated with the fees and sales.
Maintains various contracts, files, regulations, manuals and directives related to marina operations.
Briefs customers on various safety procedures and techniques associated with programs and activities.
Assists in the planning, coordinating, publicizing, marketing and execution of programs and special events.
Assists management with administrative duties such as month end inventory, answering phones, participant registration, and other clerical duties.
Adheres to and carries out program and safety policy, regulations, guidelines, and standards.
May act as manager in his/her absence.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Must meet Federal Employment suitability requirements and successful completion of background investigation. Background investigations are conducted using fingerprint identification and completion of background inquiry forms.
- Must successfully pass the E-verify employment verification check. Any discrepancies must be resolved as a condition of employment.
- You must go through a Personal Identity Verification (PIV) process that requires two forms of identification from the Form I-9.
- May be required to pass pre-employment examinations.
- Must provide proof of U.S. Citizenship or U.S. National.
- A valid State driver's license is required to operate motor vehicles.

- Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
- Must be able to work varied work schedules to include nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Wears protective clothing and equipment as situations warrant.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain the following certifications listed in announcement.
Qualifications

Specialized experience directly related to the duties described above. Qualifying experience must have been equivalent to the next lower level in the normal line of progression.
Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Knowledge of marina-based functions.
Knowledge of basic recreation principles.
Knowledge of basic seamanship, boating terminology, watercraft operation and maintenance, water and boating safety, handling of boats (e.g., launching, mooring, etc.), boating equipment and facilities, and recreational boating activities.
Knowledge of general office procedures.
Knowledge of the State Clean Marina Initiative Program.
Skill in providing customer service.
Skill in the use of basic hand tools to perform minor maintenance and repair.
Skill in the use of Microsoft Office Programs (e.g., Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook).
Ability to handle small powerboats in light to moderate conditions.
Ability to maintain records, compile and organize data for reports.
Ability to operate a motor vehicle.
Ability to swim without assistance and/or support.
Ability to perform point of sale (POS) tasks using site-specific software.
Ability to assist in organizing, planning, and administering special events and entertainment activities.
Ability to work independently and as a team member.
Ability to safely use and operate equipment and tools for basic facility maintenance/repair. Ability to follow instructions.
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing

Emergency First Responder (EFR) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification
First Aid Certification
National Association of State Boating Law Administrators (NAS BLA) Safe Boating Certification, or
equivalent.
