The incumbent is responsible for supervising the Maintenance and Operations (M&O) Organization under the Facilities Management Service (FMS) at the John J. Pershing VA Medical Center in Poplar Bluff, MO.

Major Duties of position (Included, but not limited to): Serves as the Maintenance and Operations Supervisor (M&O) for Facilities Management Service and Utility Systems Operations. Direct Supervision of 19 tradesmen, including Boiler Plant Supervisor and Maintenance Mechanic Leader. Second Level supervision of Utility Systems which includes 14 tradesmen Responsible for all major work functions or missions Prioritizes, integrates, and coordinates various work activities, as well as contracted work. Incumbent is responsible for ensuring that preventative maintenance is performed on utility systems and building service equipment according to established policies and procedures. Ensures that proper records are maintained Incumbent is responsible for preventative maintenance and minor repair on non-GSA Vehicles. Serves as Contracting Officer Technical Representative (COTR) for more than ten (10) service, maintenance, and repair contracts. To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 01/07/2025. EXPERIENCE: A specific length of training and experience is not required, but you must show evidence of training or experience of sufficient scope and quality of your ability to do the work of this position. Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Federal Wage System Qualification Standards. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Physical Requirements/Working Conditions: This position requires walking, standing, bending, sitting, crawling, and climbing. Incumbent must have good vision, with or without glasses. May lift or carry tools, equipment, ladders, scaffolding, parts and supplies up to 50 pounds. May occasionally lift and carry items over 50 pounds. Incumbent may work from ladders, scaffolding, and/or hydraulic platforms. This position requires working in uncontrolled environments, in inclement weather conditions, and in confined or uncomfortable spaces. Many work sites are hot, dirty, dusty, greasy, poorly lit, cramped, and with unpleasant odors. Occasionally is subject to possible dangerous working conditions including exposure to hazards normally encountered in the hospital trades and various types of infections. May be subject to electrical shock and/or electrical burns, cuts, bruises, and strains. Required to wear appropriate personal protective equipment as necessary to accomplish assigned tasks in a safe manner.
